Wilston State School's Hands on Art Festival was on Sunday, October 26, 2014. In a wonderful collaboration with the students, teachers and parent volunteers we created a Wishing Tree for the festival.
The wishes expressed give a fascinating insight into the dreams, worries, ambitions, fears and social awareness of these kids. I was honoured to be privy to their written or drawn wishes and with over 800 wishes it was quite a spectacle.
During the festival a soundscape played of recorded wishes, with some kids waiting patiently to hear themselves. I loved watching the absorption of the Wilston families under the tree reading wishes.
