20 November 2023

Arrived - my own Artist in Residency at Hand Bent Banana to celebrate the end of being a school mum with the third daughter graduating. Spent the day getting the lay of the land, then laying on the land by the dam.

  • watching the sky and trees

  • hearing the birds, machinery and frogs

  • smelling a sweet scent

  • feeling the temperature change

  • tasting freedom

  • reading busy being free

  • inspecting the chooks and chicks

  • gathering avocadoes

  • removing bark from my eye

At day’s end we sat outside beside a small fire over a few glasses to talk, the ancient smell of burning wood relaxing our bodies. We spoke of art, funding, land ownership, custodianship, living out our days, purpose, creative recovery, systemic injustice, women’s business.

Mountain Mist Meditation gently allows the mind to settle and the nervous system to regulate. It was filmed on a rainy morning in Tallebudgera Valley, I watched in wonder as the mist birthed clouds and drifted across the valley.

The many thoughts and sensations that were experienced while watching the mountain mist as a focus of meditation.
